Meet Dr. McFadden

Dr. Anthonio McFadden’s journey to dentistry began in Downriver, Michigan, where he was raised by his hardworking single mother. From the moment he was born, she instilled in him a sense of purpose, recalling how the physician who delivered him remarked that his hands were meant for either basketball or medicine. While he was recruited for basketball in middle school, his true passion lay in science. By high school, he made the decision to focus entirely on academics—all while working 40 hours a week at McDonald’s after school to support himself. 

His dedication and perseverance earned him a place at the University of Michigan, where he studied biochemistry and led the largest Minority Association of Pre-Medical and Pre-Dental Students (MAPS) chapter in the state. His commitment to mentorship has remained a core part of his mission, guiding over 100 students into dental school and STEM careers. 

Dr. McFadden’s drive and talent led to his recruitment straight from dental school to train under Dr. Roger Pecina, one of the nation’s most respected dentists, at the world’s largest single-owner private practice. There, he mastered complex oral surgery, endodontics, implant placement, and periodontal surgery. He then took on leadership roles at Emergency Dental of Michigan, where he became the highest-producing dentist in the state, transforming the culture of corporate dentistry with patient-centered care and high-efficiency treatment planning. 

Now, as the founder of Dental Emergency of Royal Oak by Smile Detroit, Dr. McFadden combines his surgical expertise, compassionate approach, and deep commitment to community mentorship to provide the highest level of emergency dental care. Whether managing high-anxiety patients, performing same-day treatments, or mentoring the next generation of dental professionals, Dr. McFadden remains dedicated to making a lasting impact—one patient at a time.
